I didn't come to this from a consulting firm. I spent 13 years inside construction, roofing, and real estate companies here on Long Island — and I started at the front desk, not the top.
I came up through executive support, business operations, HR and safety, and training, and finished as Vice President of Operations for a general contracting and real estate firm. Every step of that climb was the same job in a different costume: figuring out why the work wasn't flowing, and building something that made it flow.
So I've written the SOPs nobody followed until we fixed them. I've chased the invoices that should have gone out three weeks earlier. I've been the person accountable when the systems didn't hold — with crews in the field and the phone ringing.
